Hello ya'll,

I am a premier lifestyle photographer in Monument, Colorado. I also serve Colorado Springs, Larkspur and Palmer Lake and beyond for their photography needs. I photograph life moments of families, couples, newborns, maternity, graduating seniors, equines and events, including if you are vacationing here in Colorado.  My editing style is warm and walks on the bold side, with deeper blacks and rich color palettes - which translates beautifully for your tangibles! Love has so many forms and shapes throughout life. It is these deeply loving connections between people as we journey through life that I strive to preserve in a creative, high quality and yet affordable way. Think "boutique experience" if you are wondering what it's like to work with me. I try to make all sessions the most stress free experience possible and offer support at every step of the process - including Location Choice Guides and Preparing for Your Session Guides (wardrobe help). I have over 11 years of experience and knowledge which yields superior photography with a top notch client experience. In a nutshell, working with me is like working with an old friend, things are comfortable, relaxed, and we actually have a lot of fun together as we preserve the beautiful moments of your life. Wanna hear it first hand? Read below what past clients have to say and well as the FAQs at the bottom to get to know more on how I roll!

Me and my family, nice to meet you!

Love Letters

Piersol Family of 13

“From first contact to set up a date through the photo session, Christian was wonderful. She responded to every email promptly. She helped with selecting the place for our family photo session, helped with clothing suggestions and/or comments, supported our family of 13 through the photo session with ease and professionalism. Our ages ranged from age 74 to 1 year old and she responded to every need. We love our photos, which were provided within a week as promised. I would highly recommend her!”

FAQ

Is there a deposit?

Yes, for first time clients there is a $50 deposit to hold your date on my calendar, with remaining balances not due until the day of the session. Once we have an ongoing relationship there is no deposit, cause I know you are good for it :) Events are 50% deposit due at booking to hold your date.

What is the booking process?

Booking is easy! Follow the "book a session" button below and fill out the contact form with details about what you are looking for and any goals. From there we find a date on the calendar, take care of the $50 deposit to hold that date, and then I send out my Preparing for your Session/What to Wear Guide, a short questionnaire to help me to get to know you and your goals for the session (super important especially if you are not adding-on Proofs), the contract of service, and my Location Choice Guide that has details on every location that I shoot at as well as example photos from past client sessions. From there I offer guidance if needed for choosing sessions size and locations based on your goals, and even wardrobe coordination feedback if needed! I am here every step of the way in the planning of the session.

Why is photography an investment?

You aren’t just hiring someone with a better camera than you, you are hiring a professional with years of experience and training, an artistic eye, experience with posing that doesn't look over done and someone who cares about what photographs mean and the importance they have on preserving your life. Not to mention editing your images to status level: magical - takes time and expertise as well! In this industry, "you get what you pay for" rings very true, so keep that in mind during your photographer searches!

What should I wear for the session?

No stressing needed! I got you covered on how to prepare for your session, check out the article listed in the resources menu above! I send this out to all of my clients and am happy to bounce ideas around and give feedback once you start pulling options together and have made your location choice.

What exactly IS a proof and do I need them?

What is a proof? Proofs are when the client picks their included final photos for their package from all photos shot at the session, as opposed to the photographer choosing based on your questionnaire answers, our conversations during booking as well as during the shoot itself for your goals and priorities. It is an add-on service to cover the editing time and costs as proofs require the photographer to give edits to ALL photos for the client to view and pick from as opposed for the editing time already accounted for in the package price to edit just the included amount for your package. Proofs are great for sessions that are for a specific need, like large tangibles or save the dates etc or for the client who is a bit more type A. 😜

Advantages to adding proofs?

The main advantage to adding proofs is total control over which images you get to keep. You see all the photos from your session, and pick the final ones to keep yourself, as opposed to leaving that choosing of the best of the best that meet your goals up to the photographer's discretion.

Disadvantages to adding Proofs?

The added cost for editing time is not helpful if on a budget. Turn around time is also much slower with proofs as there is a lot more time consuming editing required on my end for all the images from the session, as well as you finding the time to look through the proofs and make your final selections before the finals are given advanced edits and delivered for download. A pro tip when considering proofs and the expense; why not upgrade to the next size session up to put those dollars towards more final images instead of just towards an editing fee?

No proofs included in the portrait packages? What's up with that?

My goal is to offer AFFORDABLE, accessible to everyone, beautiful HIGH QUALITY photography. I give great attention to detail and love to every photo that I edit and unfortunately that takes a lot of time, which is why the price of editing all photos to proofs had to reflect that strong effort when I did widely offer these in the past - and it became very expensive for the client - the exact opposite of how I want to offer my talent. So I put together portrait packages listed above, dropped my pricing, upped the number of photos per package and everyone has been much happier since! Plus I learned through those proof sessions that the client almost always picked the same exact "best of the best" photos from their sessions that I would have picked for them had it not been a proof session... With that invaluable commonality, why pay more to get the same photos picked out as your final images anyway! Doesn't make much sense when there was a simpler much more affordable solution - packages with no proofs! I work through this by taking extra time to talk about your goals and specific details for the session so I know what types of images are on your list of must haves. If your session yields several photos that juuusstt missed the cut into the delivery gallery I will often put these in a separate section for you to look at (unedited) and purchase additional images if you so choose ($25/each). If your heart is set on proofs, I still offer them as an add-on so you get exactly what you want while staying within your specific budget (no surprise pricing!) The caveat: These MUST be arranged ahead of scheduling and invoicing to do so. No pre-purchased and shot sessions will be allowed to become proof sessions after the fact. They are shot differently during the session and images are organized differently during post production, it is very time consuming for me to start over from an already shot & delivered session and turn it into a proof session. Just communicate to me in advance and we can make it happen, cool beans?

How much to add-on Proofs to my portrait package?

Mini Session Proof Editing Fee: $75
Midi Session Proof Editing Fee: $150
Maxi Session Proof Editing Fee: $175
If you would like to add-on proofs to your session be SURE to do so before your session takes place, preferably during booking.

What kind of gear to you use?

The best kind! I shoot professional line Nikon with a full frame mirrorless Z6 and have a wide variety of professional tiered lenses from Nikkor, Sigma Art and Tamron. I edit on a MacBookPro M2 with XDR Liquid Retina display.

Do I have to order prints through you?

While I do offer professional printing that you can order from your private online gallery and have shipped straight to you, this is optional. You are welcome to use my professional printer company, which my monitor has been calibrated to, or to download and take your images elsewhere! They are yours to do what you'd like for your personal use.

How long until I get my final images back?

I strive to work hard and timely! Most turn around time is a couple days to a week for portrait sessions without proofs added-on; obviously with many more photos to edit to proofs the time frame is usually a week or more to get your proofs - then proof process from there depends on how quickly the client makes their selections for their final images which are given more in-depth edits before delivery. Time frame can vary for events from a week to a month or more depending on the size of your event. Please ask if you require faster turn around and I'll always do my best to accommodate!
